Portretresultaten, het oog

Enkele zeer realistische ogen geproduceerd in de portretreeks workshops. Breek de functies altijd af tot hun basisonderdelen en bouw ze weer opnieuw op. Elk deel van het gezicht kan in verschillende verhoudingen worden gemeten en gebruikt om realistische proporties te construeren. De breedte van het oog is hetzelfde als de ruimte tussen de ogen. De totale afstand van oog tot oog is drie keer de breedte van één oog. Tijdens de les vertelde ik ook dat het op de een of andere manier betekenisvoller is als je een connectie hebt met de persoon die je tekent. Het moedigt je aan om niet alleen vast te leggen hoe ze eruit zien, maar ook hoe jij over ze denkt (bewondering, liefde, woede, medelijden…). Het kan een familielid zijn of iemand door wie je geïnspireerd bent. Zoals ik al zei, was de mijne de Australische inheemse kunstenaar Albert Namatjira. Hij had een inspirerend, maar tragisch leven. Hij maakte prachtige kleurweergaven van de Australische outback in Europese stijl. Ik raad u ten zeerste aan zijn verhaal te onderzoeken en voorbeelden van zijn werk te bekijken.

Some very realistic eyes produced in the portrait series of workshops. Always breaking down the features to their basic parts and building back up again. Each part of the face can be measured and used at differen ratios to construct realistic proportions. The width of the eye is the same as the space between the eyes. The total distance from eye to eye is three times the width of one eye.
During the class I also mentioned that it is somehow more meaningful when you have a connection with the person you are drawing. It encourages you to not only capture what they look like but how you also feel about them (Admiration, love, anger, pity…). It can be a family member or someone you are inspired by. As I mentioned mine was the Australian aboriginal artist Albert Namatjira. He had an inspiring, but tragic life. He produced beautiful colour representations of the Australian outback in the european style. I thouroughly recomend researching his story and looking at examples of his work.
