I sampled a mind-boggling array of outstanding and often profound wines in my marathon tasting session with proprietor and winemaker Luca Currado
rich and relatively forward flavors that possess a generous mid-palate though the vibrant and stony finish immediately tightens up
The visit was capped off by previews of the 2004 Cristal and the as-yet-unreleased Cristal Rose
Moderately strong wood and menthol elements frame the aromas of essence of red cherry
Domaine Ponsot, Clos Vougeot Vv Vintage:2011 I sampled a mind-boggling arrayThis is also brooding and reticent with an intensely earthy nose of both red and dark pinot fruit that is trimmed in hints of game, leather and herbal tea. The old vines are very much in evidence as there is a true abundance of palate soaking dry extract that imparts a velvety mouth feel to the mid palate and buffers the very firm tannins on the youthfully austere, complex and hugely long finish. This is seriously impressive. (93 96) 2026+
